Songs of Survivors was created in 2018 by David St Romain, a music artist turned advocate.  He began piloting the idea of writing songs to help people in their healing process.  That year, David began his work in a Child Human Trafficking home and soon found himself conducting workshops with veterans.  With a mission at hand, Songs of Survivors officially became a non-profit in November 2019.  During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, David continued the mission of SOS and conducted one on one workshops with numerous vets at the Ode to Our Warriors homeless veterans shelter.  Although we’re still facing the challenges of the Covid-19 crisis in 2021, SOS has stepped up and partnered with the Louisiana Department of Tourism and Lt Gov. Billy Nungesser’s office to offer veterans in Louisiana a Songs of Survivors workshop, scheduled for June 19th at the WWII Museum in New Orleans.

Community Partnerships

Songs of Survivors’ mission thrives when we create relationships with partners serving all areas of the trauma population. Partnerships with other community serving organizations is key to reaching the needs of the hurting in our community.  If you, or someone you know, has an organization interested in our workshops, please give our office a call at (225) 443-9330 or register at one of our events.
