Pilot works closely with national and international organizations that support this focus\, including the National Organization on Disability\, American Heart Association\, Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives\, Alzheimer’s Association\, Project Lifesaver and The Brain Injury Association.  \nPilot members participate in fund raising projects such as Pilot Walks to support programs in the field of brain-related disorders and disabilities. Pilot Clubs participate in Brain Awareness Week\, an annual event sponsored by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives\, to increase awareness of advances in brain research and their importance to society. \nIn 2001\, Pilot International launched its signature project\, BrainMinders™. Funded by a gift to Pilot International Foundation from the estate of Callye Neese\, BrainMinders™ is Pilot’s public service campaign signature project aimed at increasing awareness of brain injuries and ways to prevent them. Public Service Announcements (PSAs) have been distributed to radio stations across North America. The first BrainMinder Buddies™ program is designed to teach children ages four to six years old the importance of safety; a safety program for seven- through nine-year-olds was introduced in 2003.  \nPilot volunteers present the programs in schools and day care centers and other venues\, and have reached an estimated 500\,000 children around the world. An educational program about the teen-age brain was introduced in 2006 for Anchor members to present to pre-teens and younger teens.
